Vivd Sydney

Photographer: Ramon
Location: Circular Quay

We finally remembered that the Vivid Sydney event was being held this year so we decided to check it out!

“Sydney will once again be transformed into a spectacular canvas of light, music and ideas when Vivid Sydney takes over the city after dark” - In other words, there will be music, lights and attractions in Sydney after the sunset.

We were expecting a kaleidoscope of colours after seeing photos from the previous 4 years Vivid Sydney has been running and all the vibrant colours projected onto the Opera House, we were disappointed that all that was projected onto the Opera House this year was a white canvas with a man and a woman rolling around… literally!

I’m sorry to sound rude towards the artists “URBANSCREEN” but it was 10 degrees at night, it’s winter and watching a woman rolling around in shorts and a tee was not appealing to me at all!

The view of Circular Quay from the top ^_^ I thought that the sculptures were the main attractions of Vivid Sydney! Unfortunately, Ramon started to lose interest in Vivid Sydney earlier than expected so we didn’t manage to properly do a tour of all the sculptures on display behind Circular Quay or towards the Opera House.

A gigantic chandelier and the Sydney Harbour Bridge. It was beautiful!

Museum of Contemporary Art Australia had the best display of the night! There was a light display on loop and it was amazing to just sit on the grass and watch it over and over again.

Photo by Brian ^_^ basically what you had to do was ride the bike and the faster you pedal, the brighter the wings became.

Nearby there was an awesome (yet very loud) interactive display which was controlled by noise. Depending on how loud you could yell/scream, you light up a certain number of lights!

Oh and yes, behind me, you can actually play naughts and crosses!

Customs House had an amazing light display, however when we managed to find it, the place was surrounded by photographers and spectators so here’s the best photo I’ve found of the Customs house from the amazing photographer Craig Jewell.

I really want to go again next year and fingers and toes crossed that next year will be more “vivid” and vibrant ^_^
